I wish I could remember where I saw this image on facebook so that I could properly credit it; I hope that the creator, whoever she/he is, and the original poster, will forgive the lack of credit and permission asked:
And on another note (though related in my own mind), I just encountered some words of wisdom by Shawn Achor, who wrote a book (I haven't read) called The Happiness Advantage. He recommends six 'happiness exercises', the first of which is to write down three things you're grateful for that occurred over the last 24 hours. And he says they can be as simple as a good cup of coffee (for which I am ALWAYS grateful!!!), or the warmth of a sunny day. So on this Sunday morning when I woke hours before I needed to, let me write three of them here:
1. I'm grateful for whatever magic is bringing the writing back, that the Muse, Creativity, Magic, or Whatever, hasn't left. I'm grateful that those first stirrings are bringing joy rather than resistance and fear.
2. I'm grateful I got to go to the indoor Farmer's Market yesterday, and bring home fresh delicious shoots (radish, pea, sunflower and cress) and fragrant, crazy-good Poha .
3. I'm grateful that I have weekends off now, and can sit here on a Sunday morning knowing it's my day to do with as I choose. Changing jobs can carry risks, but four months in, switching from 'Youth Program Administrator' in library 26 miles away to 'Office Manager' at a non-profit 7 miles away, feels like a very good decision. And one of the joys of it is that weekends are my own.
Can you think of three things to be grateful for today?
